At MiO we undertake commissions within a diverse of art and design disciplines. All the work is undertaken collaboratively by our staff and participants with learning opportunities embedded within the design and manufacture. Commissions are a effective way for the charity to bring income into the organisation and the proceeds go towards the delivery of our services, employment opportunities for our participants and towards our development fund.
Working with our participants from the initial brief stages through to installation, MiO produce artworks for both public display and private clients.
We're happy to work with established artists to develop their ideas or to create new concepts
hand in hand with clients.
See some of our previous work and get in touch to find out more about how we could work with you or your organisation to create something special.
Since setting up Making it Out we have inadvertently become well versed in bespoke shopfitting.
We have worked with several local businesses including Emmaus, Hisbe and Shop Kindly.
Our designs concentrate on usability and longevity with a focus on the use of sustainable, tactile materials.
All of the pieces are made by our staff and participants in our workshop in Portslade.
"Working with MIO is has changed the way our customers use our store and improved the experience for everyone"

We have recently created a diverse range of pieces including unique lighting solutions and domestic furniture. Further to these individual items we recently produced batches of wooden toys for sale at Charleston house and collapsible tables for a local church.
