Into the Light

Into the Light

Welcome to “Into the Light,” a powerful photographic exhibition created by the participants of Making It Out, under the guidance of Miguel Amortegui on behalf of The Egg Foundation.

This project is the culmination of an extraordinary journey, where art, therapy, and self-expression converge to shed light on the deeply personal stories of individuals who have faced significant challenges in life.

Over the course of several weeks, our participants—each bringing their unique life experiences and personal challenges—embarked on a creative and therapeutic exploration. Through the medium of photography, they were given the tools to “draw with light,” using long exposure techniques in a dark environment to create images that vividly represent their journeys, struggles, victories, hopes, dreams, and ambitions.

The Exhibition: The images you see here were not only created in a darkened environment but are also displayed in the same space to enhance the installation’s impact. The choice of this setting is intentional—it symbolizes the transition from darkness to light, echoing the participants’ own paths toward healing and self-discovery. Each photograph is accompanied by a caption that captures the emotion, thought, or moment behind the lens, offering a glimpse into the internal landscapes of those who have bravely shared their stories. This exhibition is more than just an artistic display; it is an integral part of the psychotherapy process. Engaging with these images allows both the creators and the viewers to reflect on life’s priorities, obstacles, and the potential for change. The act of creating and sharing these photographs has been a profound exercise in reevaluating one’s life, recognizing personal growth, and embracing hope.
