MIO DEVELOPMENT FUND

What it is?

At Making It Out we want to help participants to develop skills, confidence and motivation. With that in mind we have created a fund that supports you to build on your achievements with us. This may be used to help you to move on into training or work, or to further develop your work with MIO - it should focus on increasing your independence and ability to control your own future.

Who can apply?

The fund is open to anyone who has attended Making it Out regularly for a period of 6 months.

What can be funded?

This will be dictated by the needs of each individual but can’t just be an application for money, it must be focused on an item, course etc, which we will pay for. Examples include:

  • Equipment required for your work skills (tools, books, technology, special clothes)

  • Courses that would help you to develop your skills for work

  • Help with travel costs to interviews or courses

  • Driving lessons where driving is needed

  • Counselling/therapy sessions

How much can I apply for?

These are single payment of any value up to a maximum of £500. The final award is at the discretion of the Trustees. You can apply at any time, and we aim to give you a response within two weeks.

How do I apply?

All you need to do is fill in the application form and send it to either Mark or Lucy. You will need to explain what you want to do and why it is useful and important to you at this time. What difference will the funding make?

The form can found on MIO laptops or download it here.

Please send completed forms to admin@makingitout.co.uk.

What happens next?

Your application will be considered by the Trustees of Making It Out. The Trustees may find it helpful to talk to you about your application and your plans. You will be told about the outcome by Mark or Lucy within two weeks of making your application. The money will normally be paid directly to the supplier of the product or activity that we agree to fund.

If you need help filling in the form Mark or Lucy will be happy to talk you through the process. If you are not successful in your application, you may re-apply in 6 months.
